Fluoride

Many people disagree with adding flouride to water because of many different issues. Many scientists have claimed that it causes bone damage, it can lead to cancer, staining of teeth and abnormal growth. Many of these scientist claim these things but they have not been proven positive. The New England Journal of Medicine (1990) reported that fluoride treatment of osteoporosis patients resulted in higher hip fracture rates. Scientist at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency have come out against fluoridation ,because they have confirmed that it does not reduce tooth decay and that there is clear evidence that fluoride causes cancer. Bone disorders, skeletal fluorosis, osteoporosis and arthritic pains have been proven causes of fluoride that was inserted int water. It has also been more deaths and major diseases in cities with high levels fluoride. That is why many people disagree with adding fluoride to water.

I believe that adding fluoride to water is a very bad idea. Even though it has been proven t help stop tooth decay, it has many disadvantages. I personally would rather have bad teeth then have cancer. The negative aspects of fluoride, for me, override the advantages of fluoride added to water. If we stopped using fluorude in the water we can help to save our immune system and keep our bodies healthy. I believe that stopping the production of fluoride in water would be the best thing for our society. That is why i am against the production of fluoride in water.

There have been a lot of technological advances in toothpaste. With the help of these advances most people have been able to keep there teeth throughout their lives. Toothpaste has been added to with three key ingredients; stannous fluoride, sodium fluoride, and sodium monofluorophosphate, which help to prevent decay. All are derived from hydrofluoric acid, which in turn is made by reacting sulfuric acid with fluorspar, a calcium fluoride-rich ore. One of the main tricks for making fluoride toothpastes are marrying the fluoride with compatible abrasive. Abrasive was made in most earlier aged tootpastes. Proctor & Gamble were the first people to find a compatible abrasive that really worked These are some of the technological advances.

The chance that adding fluoride to water can cause cancer and damage to the nervous system. I think that those things are such a big deal that they scare me really badly. I would most definitely have a chance of losing some of my teeth other than the chance that i may develop a cancer. I think that cancer is such a big deal because manly there is no way to cure many kinds. There are ways to help tooth decay, but there may be no way of curing some types of cancers. That is why using fluoride in water really concerns me.
